Scientists are studying the bacteria that prevents macropods such as kangaroos and wallabies from releasing methane and applying what they have learnt to developing solutions to reduce the carbon footprint for cattle and sheep.
Feed laced with kangaroo bacteria could be developed to enhance commercial livestock production that is not only greener, but also promises the potential to produce faster-growing and more fertile carcasses.
